Happy Tails

Lily - previously Cupcake

Happy New Year from Lily (was Cupcake).  I adopted her in 2013 from you.   She’s loving life in Nova Scotia these days.  She’s a real little beach bum. She loves swimming and jumping off rocks.  I’m most proud to say she is my official ESD (emotional support dog) for my PTSD.  Thank you for all that you do!

Just thought I’d throw an email update your way on our beloved little mutt – Archie – who was adopted on March 5, 2017.

We’ve been a family for almost 2 years – and not one day of that time has been boring!  He truly has wiggled into the hearts of everyone who meets him!  He’s such a special little boy with a quirky and adorable personality that has us smiling and laughing daily!  He has fit into his family perfectly and we couldn’t be more pleased!

Looking forward to many more wonderful memories being made with Archie and a HUGE shout out to your organization for helping us to find the perfect piece to make our family complete!

Merry Christmas to all the Little Mutts Team
I wanted to wish you all a Merry and Blessed Christmas from myself and Ellie Mae aka Miyoko.
She has blessed our home with lots of love, happiness, energy and entertainment.

I just wanted to touch base to let you know how Karl (formerly Malone) is doing.  He has settled in well and is an absolute delight to have around.  He’s still a little reserved but each day his puppy personality is slowly revealing itself.  He loves his walks and enjoys exploring every post and bush along his path.  He actually heels extremely well.  He is affectionate and loves to cuddle.  He is my shadow and sleeps on a chair behind my desk chair.  He like to stay close.

Thank you for the good work the organization does in giving dogs a chance to be re-homed.  Karl is good advertising for family and friends considering adopting a dog and for strangers we meet along our path.

Pogo and Archi

Amy Gowertz - Saturday, November 03, 2018

This is Pogo (puggle) and Archi (chi) both LMR fosters for us.  Pogo was our foster dog #21 that we adopted in July 2014.  Pogo has been a great addition to our family but as we fostered more and more dogs, he would get very very sad when the dog we were fostering got adopted.  So, in Feb 2018, Archi this little skinny undernourished Chi came into our home as a foster.  Well, we could see the two of them became instant friends and we did not have the heart to tear away another foster from Pogo so Archi became a permanent resident in our home as well.  You can say we adopted Archi for Pogo

Pogo is foster dog #21 for us and Archi is foster #74. These two are very compatible, as you can see by the photos.  We continue to foster but it is a much easier time for Pogo when the fosters leave now because he knows Archi is here to stay.  While Pogo is caring and very in tune to how everyone in the house is feeling, Archi is just a happy busy body that can entertain himself by moving the dog toys from one end of the room to the other end and then back again.  We are so happy to be fostering for Little Mutts Rescue and so grateful this brought these two angels into our lives.  They put a smile on all our faces and of most of the visitors that come into our home as well.

Ellie Mae previously Miyoko

Just wanted to give you an up-date on Ellie Mae aka Miyoko. She is perfect!! She had her stitches out on Friday during her first meeting with our vet. Aside from some dental work required in the new year she is doing great. We have got her licensed with the City of Calgary and registered her micro chip.

This weekend we have just hung out and are getting to know each other. She has 4 beds available to her, is eating well and sleeps with me. Ahhhh We are starting to see a wee bit of her personality show through as she wants to play a little bit with some toys. Thank you so much for your hard work in finding these special four legged friends their forever homes. Ella Mae has found hers.

Logan now Charlie

Charlie is a very special and loveable little dog who has fit into our family perfectly.  He is very cuddly and likes nothing better than to curl up beside you and go fast asleep.  He gets along with all the children and other dogs (even though he is the smallest).  He is still learning how to walk on a leash and slowly learning not to pull so much.  He gets very excited whenever I come home and spins around like a top.  He is still experiencing some anxiety whenever I leave him, but it is staring to get a bit better as time goes on.  I am so happy that I found him to become part of my family.
Keep up the good work in rescuing this loveable little animals.

Update on Diamond

Amy Gowertz - Tuesday, September 25, 2018
One photo is Diamond cuddled up on my colourful blanket, at my feet, on Canada Day.  The other photo is Diamond hogging my bed - which she is exceptionally good at doing every night.  It's taken a little while for her to realize that she's here to stay, but now she's a cuddly little girl, and is sometimes even a "Velcro" dog.  Whomever had her before she was found on the streets trained her exceptionally well.  She's got a lot of terrier in her, so she's programmed to run after cats, squirrels, etc., but I have a story to tell....We were both outside (no fence, not leashed) as I took some garbage to the townhouse complex bin.  She will not leave the yard, and just waits for me.  I was about halfway back when I saw a jackrabbit out of the corner of my eye - and Diamond saw it at the same time.  I hollered "Diamond, No. Leave it!" - and she stood still and just watched the rabbit run away!!  How's that for awesome training?  So, whomever decided not to adopt her because she was 12 years old, and left her so we could adopt her - we thank you from the bottom of our hearts, because she's an absolute treasure.

Roxanne now Sierra and June Bug now Miss Lucy

Amy Gowertz - Tuesday, September 25, 2018
Hi Everyone!
We just wanted to say that these two girls are doing great!

Sierra is 6 yrs old & tiny so she isn’t going to like the cold at all so I’ve bought her a good fleece wardrobe :)
She is a sweet girl who runs the show with my cats & other two dogs.

Miss Lucy is 2 yrs old & is very timid.
We took a slow casual approach with her regarding stairs ..... she figured them out in 3 days!!
She is scared to be picked up but within a few days you could pick her up with just a little squealing. :)
She was scared of the leash & going for a walk but is starting to enjoy them & even leads the pack.
She also has no interest in our cats but enjoys the company of me & my husband & her fur buddies.
She is starting to play with toys & enjoys belly rubs & ear scratches.

Saving these dogs makes us feel so good!
